My reverse lights are out. The plug near the transmission is connected, the bulbs are okay. Where else can I look? What fuse number is it? According to the "How To" on this issue, there is a two-pin connector near the firewall that can be unplugged the plugged back in. Where exactly is it located and what does it look like?

The rear bulkhead connectors are in the front right corner of the engine compartment, as seen while you're standing directly behind the car. You likely have a cover over these connectors, which you'll need to remove.
There are a number of connectors under there, in various colours, and number of pins. All of this will help make sure you put everything back together. This link (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?40-All-Wiring-Schematics&p=7640&viewfull=1#post7640) will take you to a post where you can download a PDF of what pin does what, speeding up this process for you.
If this doesn't help, it's possible that your reverse light switch is shot. They do wear out from time to time. Part of the safety certification on the other D up here involved replacing that switch for that reason.

Did you connect the two wires on the switch together as a test? That switch is a pretty common failure item.

Actually, the Saab tech did it when he had the car on the rack. All he said was he saw the wire disconnected and the plugged it back in. What's involved in a switch replacement for a D? Is it easy to replace/access?

It's as simple as unscrewing and screwing in a bolt. And plugging in two wires ;)

Nice. I'll replace the fuse, and play with those wires. If that doesn't work I'll order a new switch!
