cooling fan circuit question

Here's a thought: why didn't they use a dual-contact relay (87 and 87B) to run the two cooling fans in the DeLorean? Was it important that a changeover relay have terminal 87A be grounded instead? Was there a concern that the fans would spin in air and generate current? Just curious.

No one probably knows for certain, we all have opinions, but I'd imaging it had to do with available harness setup, ease of implementation with current parts or something else to that effect. I wonder if The DeLorean Museum folks have uncovered any documentation on the topic.

Yeah, it was a shot in the dark. I just happened to be looking at the schematic and thought that the Lambda relay is exactly the same so it must have had something to do with grounding pins 87A. (Although I ran with a 4-terminal relay once in an emergency and didn't see any ill effects, I know it's not recommended.) Maybe someone somewhere once knew..... Thanks!
