So I decided to start up the DeLorean since I am visiting here in Ohio for a day to pick up some more stuff I had stored here while I was in Afghanistan. Of course the last time I was here in Jan I had to fix a gas leak because I had goofed and didn't tighten down a coupler on the accumulator I replaced last summer.

Well this time around gas started pouring out of the frame again when I tried to start it. I jack the car up, look in the frame nook...no leak from the accumulator or hoses at all. These were bone dry...grand. Pop the access panel to the fuel tank, gas all around. OK, so something must have come loose here. Had someone crank the car while looking at the hoses...and get sprayed in the face by a stream of gas from a nice 1 inch split in the main line.

Luckily it was an easy fix but no idea why it just up and split. The hose is only a few years old and rated for fuel injected systems. Must have just been a bad hose. Anyway easy but annoying fix. Now I just need that garage to become availible at my apartment so I can transfer the car back to Virginia.

Look at the bright side, it could have happened while you were driving in traffic and you would have had "Delorean Flambe". My advice would be to order a new set of hoses from a different vender than the last set.

I'm in Alexandria myself. As for the hoses, they are just sommon hoses you can buy at Advance Auto Parts by the foot. Usually I have no issues but I guess this time I got a bad lot. I'm gonna put new ones on before I drive it back to VA. Luckily I just got word they have a garage ready for me so I'll be planning yet another trip in a few weeks :)
