View Full Version : General What is the overall component weight breakdown of the car?

I thought it would be interesting to compile a weightlist for the car, as the question routinely comes up “how much does XXX weigh?”

Starting at the start - The curb weight of the car, with a full gas tank and no passengers is 2844lb/1290kg (from the manual)

At 6.1lb/US gallon and 13.2 US gallon capacity, we can deduct 81 lbs from that to get a “dry weight” of 2763lb/1253kg. So how do all the component weights add up to that total?

Does anyone have empirical data on any the major components. Actual weights, perhaps based on shipping.

My guess of the major components in decreasing weight order, perhaps

Engine –
Transmission –
Fiberglass Tub - bare
Frame -bare - 213 lb (from Shane in Ireland)
Rims & Tires (4)
Doors (complete - 2)
SS Panels (except doors)
Suspension components
Seats (2)
Spare Wheel
Battery
Everything else

I think I read that the frame is 220lb/100kg bare but I have nothing to back that up.

If you have any of the above loose, can you weigh it? (we can add together individual results for the panels for example)

If we can get this completed, perhaps we could move it into the resources section?

I am hopeful that some of the international sites may have information from shipping parts to their country.

I remember reading the estimate weight of the original fiberglass tub is quoted at about 450lbs from DMCH. Can't find an exact source right now though.
