Attached please find the instructions for repairs and refinishing
of the front or rear facias.
The soft facias of the DE LOREAN vehicle are made of
polyurethane material which require special repair and refinishing
methods.
The attached instructions contain the paint formula using

suppliers will be made available as soon as we receive them.
Please inform all personnel concerned accordingly.

BULLETIN ST-13-9/81
PROCEDURES
REPAIRS:
1. Distortions:
Facias must be installed tension free. If necessary, the mounting
points/surfaces of the body or facias must be reworked.
2. Heavy Damages:
Multiple or large tears, or torn out pieces, require the replacement
of the facia.
3. Cracks, Tears, Scratches, Gouges:
a. Cracks/Tears - Can be repaired by bonding using 3M-8101
construction glue.
b. Minor Scratches/Gouges - Involving the surface paint coat only,
can be repaired as follows: Using 400 paper (wet), color sand
until scratch is removed.
If necessary, to provide a good painting surface, spray and sand
the area using the color coat material. (See Refinishing.)
c. Major Scratches/Gouges - Using coarse sandpaper, prepare the
area to be repaired. The area must also be free of oil/grease.
Build up material as necessary using 3M-8101 construction glue.
If a layered build up is required, allow approximately one hour
between applications.
Wet sand the repaired area starting with 200 sandpaper and then
with 400-600 sandpaper to obtain a smooth surface.
If necessary, to provide a good painting surface, spray and sand
the area using the color coat material. (See Refinishing.)

REFINISHING:
Depending on the size or location of the required area(s), either spot/area
painting or complete repainting of the facia may be necessary. The following
steps apply to either approach:
1. Thoroughly remove all greases, dirt, wax, and other contaminants
from the area to be painted with RM 900 Precleano.
2. Wet sand with 400 paper.
3. Repeat Step 1.
NOTE: Be sure to remove all hard water residue if water sanding
is used.
4. Apply Alpha-Cryl Lacquer color coat.

AT - 100 - 1000

"The reason its hard to find in the PPG Access files is that for some reason it is under "Fleet" vehicles. I found the code pretty easily, but it only gives the formula for DBU, if you want to use DBC I have it as well. I took my D to my paint supplier and had them put the camera to it. The camera works very well, but if I were putting panels together(Say if I were painting a door panel which would have to butt against a factory fender, then I would be hesitant to use it without testing it first, but for a Delorean, it should be fine as the bumpers are 20' apart) I didnt get the one for DAU as I dont think anyone is using single stage anymore. The formula for PPG DBU is as follows:
633 Med. Alum 137.2
647 Black 245.4
660 Blue 253.4
624 Violet 256.4
695 Clear 512.9
This is a PPG formula for the DBC 2000 base line of paints, which I think is much better.( I must say I was pretty close on guessing the formula )
649 Clear 83.4
1690 Crs. Alum. 303.6
1687 Med. Alum. 400.4
1683 Black 483.8
DX 685 flat 497.2
1607 Blue 502.8
These mixing formulas will make 1 pint which should be enough to do one bumper. These are Cumulative amounts. Your clear should have the proper amount of flat agent in it depending on your taste. I don't see any need for a flex agent, but again its up to you."
