Cat Bypass "Test" Pipe - Where can I buy one?

I spoke with John at SpecialTAuto and he won't carry it. I know Huston doesn't and Grady had no interest either. However, Grady swears that it's the best bang for the buck. :confused0:

Anywhere else I can get this? I completely understand the federal laws pertaining to emissions and the legalities involved with removing a CAT.

Or you could make one. It's about $15 to buy 8 feet of 2" exhaust pipe at smyth automotive/parts plus. Or any exhaust catalog sells exhaust off the shelf bends. All you need is one 90 bend. Here is place I've used for pipe and bends; they sell a lot of different materials: http://www.woolfaircraft.com/

Or if you really want to go cheep, just go to a local scrap yard. One near me sells raw stock materials dirt cheep.

Just weld a flange on the ends and drill holes.

Yeah, I'm no expert, but why would anyone pay so much for a straight pipe when you could have any exhaust shop make one for you and install it for like a hundred bucks?

Because, at least in the United States, it would be illegal for any shop to do so.

You would need to make a jig to get all the correct angles and lengths. You could built that jig from your CAT. I think the $200 pipes are all stainless steel. You will need to machine the flangle. Then you need to be a good welder to get air tight welds.

Would probably take me 8 to 10 hours to build one.

It takes about 50 minutes to make one. That includes cutting the flange (on the laser), bending the pipe, installing the reducer flange and tig welding everything in the jig.

These are cutting into our catback and SPEC I sales so I'm discontinuing the test pipe kit as of today. We offer too many options here anyways. I will modify the jig to fit our slim line converter and will sell that as a direct replacement for owners wanting to keep a stock cross over/muffler configuration.
