This car was put in a barn 20 years ago and I remember it being there. It had 6500 miles and the owner left it there for a while. He had another DeLorean that he drove and this was a true "lost in the barn" car. Unfortunately the barn fell down on the car, destroyed some of the stainless panels and the car sat outside for years. Between mother nature, being used as a parts car for his other DeLorean and thieves, all that remains in the body, chassis, wheels, suspension, some interior parts, engine and trans. The car was literally buried in the ground and parts of the car, like the wheels were preserved in great condition. Still has two original NCT's and the held air!!

i wonder if this is going to be someones parts car or if its going to be a restoration project. or should i say part car lol as only the tub, wheels and frame are still there assuming the undercarriage is still in existance.

I am not a fan of parting out these cars. I prefer to see them saved. It is an ambitious project that I do not intend on taking on. I was just the rescurer. Working on the title and other docs now with the PO.

DPI Josh seems to be into buying projects to restore......maybe he might make an offer to restore it.

...and yes, that is the front 1/2 of the frame that you see along with a front tub (bumper to just in front of the windshield.) That was buried about 1 foot below grade. Over time, leaves, trees, debris just covered it up. The guy saved those from his friends car that was totalled. Check out the miles!!

Yeah, this is about as close to total toast as you can get.

With this economy it is far far cheaper to buy one of these cars that needs nothing (turn key) then to attempt to restore.

I actually don't see any sign that the body is actually on a DeLorean frame, other than the engine sort of falling out of the back. Is it black body really on dollies, with the frame is in the background in two pictures? OR is that another spare frame?

This isn't a restoration project OR a parts car. It is just some DeLorean parts that somewhat resemble a car.

Yeah - your 20K estimate is way off. This might be good to have if you were rebuilding a crashed car that needs the tub, but that's about it.

If your really planning on restoring this I wish you the best of luck. But I hope you know what your in for. If your experinenced with DeLoreans you should be painfully aware of what's in front of you. If your not, do yourself a favor pull off everything that's salvageable and part it out. Even at that I don't think your going to find much here. Maybe the wheels, trans might be good if its a manual. Frame is likely shot, motor may be ok but sitting outdoors for all those years isn't going to help it any.

There is no way this is an economically viable restoration project. And that assumes you have a good, clean Title and vin plates. From what I can tell in the pictures you have a bunch of parts, many of which are probably worthless due to corrosion. First thing after getting this "buried treasure" home would be a power wash to blast any critters out so you do not get your garage infested.

I have been around DeLoreans since 1985 and would never attempt to restore this. Surprisingly the frame is in great condition and yes it is attached to the body. There is minimal rust. The engine, trans, suspension and other metal parts are not bad either. I think being covered by so much by leaves, dirt, debris, etc actually slowed the deteriation down. The body and chassis is worth reusing as well as some suspension parts. As much as I don't like parting it out realistically the body and frame would be great to use for another car that was hit or rusted out. The wheels are in good shape too! Weird how nature works.

I'd love to find something like that. Imagine the awesome stuff you could do to a blank slate. Until it came down to the body panels.
