View Full Version : General Anyone else swap their seats?

Almost all the driving I do in the D is without a passenger. So in racking up thousands of miles I don't want the driver's seat to be worn out while the passenger's seat looks new so I swap the seats probably every 50,000 miles or so. They can be swapped with no modifications. The only downside is the seats' adjustment wheel and the seat back release are now on the inside which takes some contorting to get to.
Anyone else swap their seats?

Can you even get to the adjustment wheel? Can you take a picture of that?

There's not sufficient space between console and seat to use the adjustment wheel comfortably.

There's not sufficient space between console and seat to use the adjustment wheel comfortably. That's true ... key word 'comfortably'. Since I'm the only one who drives my car the driver's seat needs only initial adjustment. I put the passenger's seat to a set position and it pretty much stays there for the occasional passenger.
Pictures attached ...

I was thinking of swapping seats if the adjustment wheel could be relocated, but I could find no way of removing it.

I just did this as I wanted to use my newly recovered seat (only the passenger side) on my drive to DCS. It was completely impossible to do until removing most of the spacers for the seat belt anchor and tightening it as far as freaking possible.

Has anyone swapped out their original Delorean seats for some other type of seat? It's been a few years, but I think I remember each seat sits on two tracks so you would only need to find another seat with tracks with similar dimensions.

Hi Andy,
Yes I did that. This subject comes up every now and then. I ended up going back to the DeLorean seats again. Here is the last time I participated in the subject: (actually there was a guy called Andy in that thread! Was it you?)

Mike, thanks for the reply and the direction to the thread. No, it wasn't me. Although I've had my D for over 10 years, I'm new to this group.
Thanks again,
Andy

When I drove my '72 Pantera regularly I tried a couple of other seats without success due to lack of headroom. I had to stay with the stock seats which were seriously uncomfortable ... worst seats I've ever sat in. I tried sheepskins in the Delorean but they reduced the headroom too much. They are now in the attic of the shop.
