While installing a new bonnet cable yesterday, I "discovered" this assembly of relays, connectors and a small squawk box all attached to a black plastic "island" literally hanging from its wires and resting on the speedo cable above the lamda counter. That's probably not good.
I saw it has to metal clips on either side of one end that look like they would attach to something up underneath the dash, but no matter how I contorted myself, I couldn't figure out how this is accomplished.
I'm assuming this is the unit that squeals at me when I haven't buckled my seatbelt after starting the car and it also looks to house the door light wiring and whatnot.
Can anyone give me directions? Thanks.

There is a metal plate to the left of the steering column where it attaches. It is largely flat with bent up edges if I remember. I googled trying to find you a pic but no luck. I'm off to work now but if you need a pic I can take one tonight when I get home.

I have this same problem -- can't figure out how it attaches. I simply stashed it behind the carpet.

Mine is just ty-wrapped in place. I never could see a way to mount it.

Mine is just ty-wrapped in place. I never could see a way to mount it.
It is designed to clip into a space just above the steering column. When properly installed there they stay put. For some reason nobody ever does, so they end up hanging from the wires or Zip tied to things in the area. It's in a spot that's not easy to take pictures of.
This picture is pretty accurate:

If memory serves, mine is clipped in place. I had to get at it one day when, while driving, the seat belt buzzer came on; first gradually, then slowly building to the loud, obnoxious buzz. I pulled the car over and immediately unplugged the unit.
To this day, I still have no idea what caused it to engage nor do I intend to ever plug it back in.
