Looks like the Old Spice commercial is finally available:

Man I would hate to have to clean up that car afterward. Certainly hope Old Spice pays well. Definitely glad to see it still runs at the end. I remember in the past there were photos either from before or after the shooting showing the car only partially covered. Anyone remember them?

I saw this last night for the first time and laughed. I was working in the shop and looked up at the flat screen and glanced down and thought "sand delorean?" I looked back up and the thing was driving!

Why would ANYONE sign up to have this done to their car?? I don't care how much to "clean" it, you'll NEVER EVER EVER get all of that sand out. For year to come you'll always find sand somewhere.

Not sure if awesome or disturbing.

There is two places I can think of that you never want sand. This is one of them.

haha, win.

EDIT: im sure others noticed as well; the sand bumper falls off the rear fascia where the chunk was missing from the actual car. i wonder what happened to it, perhaps just a minor collision. this is what 01345 looked like in december 2010:

9875

Maybe for the money. Id do it if I was getting paid for it. Dude its just sand.

And we all know that sand is a great material to pack your air intakes, radiator, condensor, fans, wheels, brakes and alternator with. I'm sure I've left out plenty of other components which would benefit greatly from the healing and restorative qualities of fine particulate matter.

Edit: Great commercial though, mistreatment of the car aside :) Old Spice has a really good marketing department/ad agency.

The owner was likely paid quite a lot of money and I'm sure Old Spice (or the parent company whatever) is paying in full for a full cleaning and necessary restoration without question.

I heard that it was a salvaged car. Judging by the pics of it after the commercial I say that is a possibility.

LOL, I'm not even going to validate that with a list of 100 various reasons why it's a stupid idea. :8ball:

I cant understand what the narrator is saying at 0.08-0.09 "hinting at getting -----".

"...and starts hinting about getting a dog together maybe..."

I think that's right anyway.

It was a salvage car after the commercial guys were done with it. I think they bought it just to do that to it. I asked about it when it went up for sale. They said it isn't sand, it is spray foam stuck in everything.

+1. if you look closely at the photos i posted (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?3731-Old-Spice-Commercial-Sand-DeLorean-at-the-beach&p=52734&viewfull=1#post52734) of the aftermath, you can see some areas (interior especially) where the 'sand' appears to be chipping or flaking off. they obviously used something to adhere the sand to the vertical surfaces and areas where it didnt 'want to be.'

The commercial brought a smile to my face. It is nice to know a 30+yr old car is still cool. 8)
