Hey all, getting close to starting a DeLorean that hasn't ran in 22 years. I wonder if it would be wise to get some oil in the cylinders first. I've heard of fogging cylinders but don't know how to do it. I know the engine turns because I have rolled the car in 5th gear back and forth.
Any suggestions if this is necessary? I already changed the oil.

Dribble a little Marvel's Mystery Oil into the cylinders.
I had typed a plea to not do anything until you clean out the fuel system, then I went back and saw some of your previous postings.... you've been working on this a while!

Thanks spitty, I'll try that. Don't worry, this is a legit restoration!

If you have already rotated the engine there is not much need to oil the cylinders. "Fogging" the cylinders is usually done prior to long term storage. If the motor rotated easily (and by rolling the car that would be easily) it should be fine once you get the fuel system cleaned out. You *could* do a compression test with and without oil but it probably won't tell you much till you get it running for a while. More important is to change all of the fluids and filters.

Usually when I'm about to try and start an engine that has been sitting for some time, I drop some oil in each cylinder to help with compression. Just squirt a bit of oil in each cylinder and crank with no spark plugs or fuel a couple of times for a few seconds at a time.. I then squirt just a bit more and throw spark plugs back on. This just helps get the engine started faster. Since it hasn't been ran in so long the cylinders are dry so there won't be any compression.
