Has anyone used Mothers 06108 Back-to-Black Trim Care - 8 oz? http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-06108-Back---Black-Trim/dp/B0002U1TXK/ref=sr_1_5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1336914882&sr=1-5 I saw it advertised on the Velocity Channel. I was thinking about the air dam and under the doors.

I used it on my Louvers and it made a great difference. From grey to black.
Needed a couple of coats and needs to be clean first.
After a year in the sun however it had faded again, but in shaded areas I'd think it would last quite a while

It does attract a lot of dirt though. When you wipe dust off, it will leave a gritty looking residue on what ever you use to clean it. It will also work on the fiberglass under bodies, trim, etc... Just watch for getting on the ss, takes a bit to get it cleaned back up.

Isn't it silicone based? I looked around a bit but didn't see positive confirmation of that. Keep in mind that if it is, once you use it on your black bits you might find yourself having a very hard time painting them if you ever decide to.

I did all the rubber/plastic trim, mirror housings, door handles. It didn't do much.

Same here. I stopped using it and now use Maguiars...found it to be a much better product.

BE AWARE that products like this will soak into the fiberglass (louvres, vents, even bumper material...). This has caused problems when you go to repaint in terms of paint adhesion and the fish-eye effect (the product will "gass out" under the paint). I had this happen to my louvres when having them professionally repainted (I ended up purchasing new louvres). Even after they used a treatment several times, the problem persisted. The only way to cure it (I am told) is to let it sit for a long time until it has totally gassed out or if you continually treat it. This has been my personal experience and what I have been told by paint shops - so I am no expert. On the other hand, some products like this can really make the louvres, trim, and vents look amazing. Just be aware of what can happen ;)
Additional edit: The product I used was called "Black Again". It looked amazing and lasted for a few months of weathering, but caused issues. I now just use it on the side vents, side mirror trim, and door trim as it is unlikely I will paint those.

I have used another black to black by eagle one. It is silicon based though.

Anyone know what the Aerospace 303 stuff is made of? I keep getting free samples of it at car shows and gas stations. Is it silicone as well?

I bought and used some back-to-black and was very unimpressed.

I happen to like Black Again. It is not the original formula but it still works well. It does wear off and needs to be reapplied but it beats having to paint the car! Any good paint shop should be able to deal with removing this and any wax if you are having anything painted. You do have to be aware of silicone contamination and any good shop will know how to handle with it. You also need to keep anything with silicone away from the motor's air intake so you do not "kill" the O2 sensor. Silicone based products also work great on the rubber weatherstripping to keep it supple and long-lasting. To keep it from getting all over I put it onto a rag and wipe the rubber, not spraying it all over the place.

I use it and it works great on the plastic bits - haven't tried it on the louvers. I did try it on my bumpers. They aren't teh original material finish and have been painted. However, the paint is fading I can't say it helped - perhaps if the paint was new.
Not sure if its silicon. I'll try to remember to look when I get home.
Cheers,
Steve
