I would suggest you just find the tail light lenses(if you don't already have them) and build your own lighting unit. It could easily be done with 12v strip SMD LED lights and an ac/dc transformer. I bet you probably have a old charger laying around that would suffice. Look for output of 11-12v with around 300mah or greater rating. Lights would run +/- 30 bucks, plus your labor in creating a box to house them in the light lenses(you would have to split the lenses apart, but thats a given as the prolonged heat build up form incandescent bulbs would be a fire hazzard). Probably could even be done with white foam core(6.00 a sheet)

Here is a link to buy the lights 5 bucks for 3 feet, self adhesive, and cut to any length. Other colors avaliable as well but white and yellow are the only 2 you will need:

Thanks for the advice and link. Definately a way to go. I was looking to use LED bulbs if I were able to get the boards. Draw less power and make less heat. I already have the 12v power supply just need to house the LEDs. Do you think that would still be to hot with LEDs?

Not at all.

I doubt it, I was just thinking of the cost of the LED socket lamps, and boards. When I got my PJGrady boards, I sold a pair a few years ago to a guy doing the exact same thing, but never saw the finished product. I think I sold the pair for 100.00.

Those are Grady's boards, which are no longer in production. Well worth the price!
