Dear friends
My is now running on a very low idle so the engine stops a lot of times. To rase the idle i see a screw near the acelerator cable but there is also another screw next to this one for an electric switch, how do i adjust that one and what is the function of that switch?
Thank you all!

The idle speed is electronically controlled. Is your idle motor buzzing?

I guess if your idle system is not working you could up your idle RPM with the lower screw. But without the idle system your idle will be very high after your engine warms up.

Is it my imagination or are we getting an unusual number of idle/frequency valve/WUR.... type of problems lately? It must be a magical age thing. Maybe it's time for some "stickies" to address the 30 year old gremlins.

I think it's just that spring is upon us and the cars are coming out of hibernation :) We've also had an unusual number of A/C related questions, myself included!

It would be nice to make a sticky that explains all the "obvious" checks that should be done before looking at more difficult stuff. For instance:

- Check vacuum line routing and delay valve orientation first and foremost
- How to check if the idle speed switch works
- Common vaccum leak areas
- How to use the dwell meter and different tricks such as testing the WOT, testing with a 1.5v battery, etc
- Check operation of idle motor
- Check idle ECU to make sure it works by pulling off the inner connector while engine is hot and running

Etc. I would be interested in collaborating with someone to put together a dummy list. I'm pretty good but I don't know absolutely everything and will probably leave something out/explain wrong.
