I did see the orange strip on the lower rear fascia. I thought if looks very bright for a muffler reflection.
I guess Roy's remarks were not considered "politically correct":p

What's this exactly? A third brake light?
What does "anti" mean in this case?

My buddy Roy only posted "nice picture" and "beautiful kids" in reply to my pictures In This listing. He was told he was breaking some rule about not being mean to other members because he called out accipiter on his idiocy, and now he tried to post. Compliment and is blocked.
I mean really?!? Be nice to other members, accipiter being "himself" is mostly
Why I took a break from this site. I see SO many moderators being mean and allowing their friends to be mean to members and get away with it. Poor Tamir, his site has really went downhill with his choice of moderators.
Roy is just being treated unfairly.
Anyway, the ovals light up red with the parking lights but do not brighten with the brake lights, hence the anti-third brake light name.

That's very nice composition and lighting.
Diffuse lighting, as seen in this photo, and sunrise/sunset conditions bring out the best in this car. I like how the stainless panels and the fascia paint are almost indistinguishable from each other in this shot.

I suspect that mainstream cars, being painted in color, have a high likelihood of "not going" with green. Where it is a very strong contrast to the non-color of the stainless. The stainless also has relatively low reflectivity so you don't get odd background patterns showing up in it.

Sure! It's a pretty simple touch up actually. Duplicate the original layer, add a mask around the car (windows, under it, etc.) then adjust the curves for exposure, and the color to bring out the silver in the stainless, and then bring the markers back to color (as they'll now be desaturated) by using the brush tool set to black on the mask where those areas are. For the lens flare, just add a black layer set to "screen", add the lens flare in roughly the area you want it, then move it onto the headlights.

I have a different take on this (not that you asked, please excuse my butting in).
My car sits in the garage (unfortunately) most of the time. And every time I walk in there, I see the back. It never grows old of course, but rarely do I see the front. So I’ve come to like the front view better. Seems like only on days I back it out and leave it on the driveway, so to do work in the garage, do I actually see the front of the car. Or at a show/street-meet, etc.

We did a photo shoot at work, Los Alamos National Laboratory (no, they won't give me any of the "good stuff"). The deputy director of the high magnetic field laboratory contacted me about a public outreach thing the labs are doing for BTTF day and wanted me to bring my car by since they have a 1.21GW generator. It's gigantic. The idea is you use the power grid to spin up a flywheel - a really BIG one. The bearings that support the shaft for this flywheel weigh 60 tons each. Then you dump all that stored rotational energy back into the motor (now a generator) over a short duration, like 1 second, and into an electromagnet. This is how they reached a world record of a 100 Tesla field in a magnet that didn't rapidly disassemble.

If that's what it really takes to generate 1.21GW of power then it helps explain 1955 Doc Brown's reaction.

I've been looking at it for several months now, but I woke up that day and said to hell with it, if there was ever a day to buy a DeLorean, that would be the day.
Plus, I was able to make jokes that I bought it off Doc because he liked the future so much and didn't need the car anymore. Ha!

Yeah me too and I own it. As far as the tires, it's what the last owner had installed (owner #2), me being the third owner. The original owner had the conversion and lowering done, and swapped out the hood as far as I know, as he did a lot of car shows with it. Oh, and added the spoiler as well. Still, it looks cool and is as fast as it looks. The funny thing is I forget how low it is and am surprised most times when a small economy car parks next to and it overshadows mine. 37982

Many of you have likely seen how popular adult colouring books are getting recently. They promote relaxation and reducing stress apparently. The creative part of colouring, drawing, doodling, etc. I'd assume helps with that.
It gave me an idea for making a couple Christmas gifts/stocking stuffers for family. It's really easy and you can play around with the different settings or scales to get the contrast just right for any photo you do. I tried it out on a DeLorean club get together photo from earlier this year. What do you think?
38372
Attaching it to the forum here is killing the resolution. It is a fair bit larger and better detail prior to uploading, but you get the idea.
Timebender

Neat idea. As a Photoshop guys who's been doing it for a long time, I'd suggest taking the photo, make it black and white, use the find outlines filter, then adjust the levels so it's purely black and white line art. Or once you've done the find outlines filter, bring it into Illustrator and have it trace the image so it's vector lines.
And if you have any drawing skills and have either a tablet or are good enough with a mouse, instead of doing the find outlines, bring it into Illustrator and do your own lines (yes, I just got the reference and being DeLoreans...), with the the pen tool.
Lots you can do with a little effort.
One more suggestion. If you ever look at most coloring books, they have a main subject (or a few subjects), background, and simple composition. Maybe some nice shots of DeLorean with a building, or trees, on a beach, or? The key is a clean composition.
Jonathan
12-07-2015, 01:58 PM
Good advice, thanks for that. Admittedly, I'm a photoshop amateur, big time. I was using a sort of online "recipe" to make these colouring sheets. I can definitely see how making it all black and white would help and for sure the part where you mention keeping the image simple. Either by picking a photo with very little in the background or getting the software to remove it.
I did a bunch that weren't with cars and a few of them turned out nice when they had a lot of symmetrical lines or shapes in them, like window frames or the edges of building or other things. I have a little more time to do some trial and error on the method before Christmas and I think some practice will help find out what works best.

Lucky geographical coincidence Teenaged bastards.
I tend to think the same thing about the kids getting to go to school at Glenbrook North High School on Shermer Road in Northbrook, Illinois...

Bought a new camera - Sony A6300. Been experimenting with it in CA using my other dream car, figured I'd share. Look forward to taking some new pics of the DeLorean this summer when back in Chicago.

+1 on the setting sun. Those pics are some of the best we see (some sunset ones from Wisconsin come to mind).
Nice choice on the backdrop, Dave. Is that a sod farm there? That old, shuttered farm house looks pretty eerie.

Haha, yes, indeed I was :)
I got pretty spoiled living so close to Lake Huron there for a few years. The sunsets seemed second to none. I always thought the best photos I had over the years were the ones with the lake and the sun in the background.
Here are a few of my favourites.

Somehow this angle turned out really well. To me anyway. Combination of the way it was parked or where the sun was at the time. Should have waited for the people to move, lol!

Wings & Wheels today at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
Wings? ...check
Wheels? ... check
There are only two remaining Lancasters in the world capable of flying and one of them was in the air there today. Pretty awesome show with the cars and planes and everything.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Lancaster
The Lancaster is the one in the background of the photo of the group of DeLoreans. The plane my car is with separately is one of the bomber types like those used in the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in response to the Pearl Harbor attacks (so I was told).
