You can get the colors and circuits off the schematic. But purple is the wire color of the +12 volts on the lights. Most likely cause would be a pinched wire. Have you done any work on your car lately? Center console wires get pinched or cut into by a screw often.

Well you can't leave us all hanging. :hmm:

A little leprechaun got in there and had connected the two open ends of the circuit up at the trunk light switch. It basically shorted a direct path from positive to negative. Disconnected it and there you have it. Good find Dave. Glad you found it. Thanks for the beer too :)

I had a car in here where someone connected those two wires together (they plug right in!) behind the upper front grille. That was interesting to locate. . . .

Another common problem is on the driver's door where they mix up the 2 sets of 2 wires and interconnect the courtesy lights and the door buzzer. I also have seen the light in the engine bay where the brass contacts got hot and the plastic melted letting things touch. The switch also pops apart for that light. That circuit can be difficult, it goes all over the car to a lot of lights, switches and connections.

Well that is neat to hear. And as Dr Dave #1 pointed out above, looks like others will learn from the experience. And in one thread we have all the guru's explaining it well and simply. Nice job Team Dave!!

Sorry i haven't logged on since but yeah its weird how i found that out i started at the back of the car and started working my way forward thanks for the help everyone. Next problem is figuring out why i have no power to the fuel pump i am trying to trace the wires now to where the problem is I dont think its the fuel pump as i have no power leading up to the pump itself
