Hi gang. When I redid my headliners last year, I couldn't get the passenger side back sun visor back in. The threads are damaged in the roof. What size tap do I need to repair this? I'm hoping to not have to remove the headliner to do it...

Thanks!

5 mm x .8. You may be able to run a tap thought it, worst case the metal plate is rivited to the fiberglass and can be replaced.

Finally just got around to ordering the tap...will keep the forum posted if this works or not. It appears that the plate is no longer available.

You could always go up to the next size if you can't make the 5 mm work. Also could use try a sheet metal screw.

Spoke with Stainless Works regarding these this morning and sent up a sample. I should have these available within a few weeks. They will be in a kit of two and include m5 hardware for the sun-visor mounting, four rivets for install on the fiberglass and silicone to seal the bracket just in case your header panel is damaged and cracked through.

SWEET! If I can't re-tap it, I will be ordering a pair!

To keep the cost down I ordered 200 of the brackets. I'm sure these will take a while to work through but it will be nice to have when required.

Josh,

Aside from all the goodies you have made at S/W, what other kinds of stuff do they do? Sorry if this is a little OT.

What do they do for us or in general? They are by trade a exhaust manufacture. For many years I have worked to build a relationship with their fabrication side to develop and produce anything we need. For example: our turbo engines utilize over 40 different components manufactured exclusively for that purpose. Ranging from brackets to flanges to pipe sections etc.

OK, They are primarily a custom exhaust manufacturer. Cool. I didn't know if they were also into industrial grade stainless equipment manufacturing.

They can take on a lot of different things as they are well equipped. Exhaust systems manufacturing is their primary concern though.
