View Full Version : Electrical Driver's window motor blowing fuses

While rolling down my windows today, the number 11 fuse popped. After replacing it (okay, a few times while diagnosing), I found that the passenger side window rolls up and down just fine.

The driver's side, which was halfway down, was able to roll up just fine. However, when attempting to roll it down, it moved the tiniest bit, while the window motor made an unpleasant struggling sound, then nothing, as the fuse popped again.

Any thoughts?

Could be your track is damaged or the window stripping is binding somewhere, depending on what you have installed in your door.

I think the general consensus is probably going to be a dead motor, though. My passenger side just did almost the exact same thing and it was shot.

Incidentally if you have a new style window regulator and the motor is dead I have a driver's side motor (no track, just the motor unit) I can send you.

Cool man! How can I tell if it is a new or old style regulator?

Check for a plastic elbow at the way bottom of it. If the elbow is plastic, it's old and should be replaced. If it's metal, it's the newer style. :)

Thanks guys. I'll tear into the door sometime in the next few days.
