I have a Tankzilla that no longer works. I have tried the "jumper tests" and I do get a low fuel light if I jumper the red and the black wires. I do get a zero fuel reading if I jumper the white and the black wires. The other connectors are secure but I still get a zero reading and no low fuel light. I suspect that the sender is defective as the car does not get driven very much.

It looks like you can buy a 1985 Saab VDO sender to replace the one that came with the Tankzilla. Is that correct? Does it sound like a sender to anyone else. The Tankzilla has been installed for probably 10 years but the car is not driven very much at all. It only has 12,000 miles total and probably 3,000 miles at the most since it was installed.

Thanks,

Scot

John at Special T has a new sender that may be better than then the TankZilla. He is selling it for $89 and displayed it at the DCS-12 car show. I have a TankZilla and took the sender apart to clean it. That fixed my problem but another owner with one looks like his electronic box is shot.

Dave,

If I may ask, what were your symptoms and how did you take the sender apart?

Thanks

Mine had two problems. It would go intermittent at about 3/4 full tank. That was when I took the sender apart (one nut on the bottom) and very carefully cleaned that fine nichrome wire with a small piece of scotch brite pad.

Then the gauge got stuck backwards pointing about 7:00 (I think). That was cured by removing the gauge and pushing the needle back. I think it moved to far when I had a bad connection on the sender.
