Ok, I just bought #3757 with 42,000 miles on it. How much HP does a Twin Turbo Kit normally add?
Thanks,
Craig

Around 200 to 210hp. My buddy has the same system on his Delorean.:thumbup2:

Chris, I think you mean that it adds 70-80, not 200-210, :)

Ok, so Total 200-210? Way cool! How does it compare to Stage II?

What's with the holes in the air box cover? In that location the engine would be sucking in unfiltered air!

Yup, and it looks like the vent hose is missing as well.
I think you need to replace that cover, and figure out if the vent hose is missing on purpose(due to the turbo setup) or if it's at least rerouted and the air box blocked off.
According to DMCH, the stage II makes 196hp at the crank, I personally think that's very optimistic. I believe the actual wheel hp is probably in the 130-150 range, (depending on drivetrain). On your turbo engine my guess is probably around 160-170ish at the wheels.

Ok, Thanks for the info... and I will have to look at the "Speed Holes" in the Air box Cover??? Where does the other end of the Vent hose go?....
Thanks,
Craig

Oil filler cap. It is the PCV inlet.

Hummmm I think I will make a Stainless Steel Plate to put over the Speed Holes.... might look cool..

Guess I need an Air Box... Anybody got a source?
Craig
There are a number of people on here that have done Engine swaps. They would be a good source for a Used one. This not the type of item you need to replace NEW. But, this is Cheap. You will need to get a fresh Decal to go with it.
http://store.delorean.com/p-6352-air-filter-assembly.aspx and about $20 shipping.

I was watching this car on eBay, congrats on the purchase and good price especially for a turbo.

There are a few precautions you should take before running your new toy hard. Make sure the boost is set up not to exceed 5 lbs on both wastegates. Make sure the oil is changed and use good oil and change it often. Make sure there are no leaks on the hoses in the intake side and the rubber is in good condition. You should make sure the mechanical advance and vacuum advance is properly set up, it was not done right on all of the Island cars so it should be checked. It is a good idea to remove the output hoses on each turbo once in a while to make sure they are not leaking oil. Make sure the switches are working and will force the mixture richer with boost. The vent hose may have been removed because it kept blowing off or filling the air filter with oil. If you are getting a LOT of crankcase pressure you have a blown piston from overboosting. Same for the holes in the air cleaner. One local owner had it so bad the oil filler cap would blow off and leave behind a cloud of oil when he was in boost! The figure thrown around on the Island Turbo set-up is it takes the stock 130 HP and gets it up to around 190. There is a whole lot more to it than just the #. It is the torque and the feeling that the engine just keeps producing more and more power the faster you go and doesn't seem to run out. The gearing in the transmission is not optimized for the turbos though and doesn't match up well with the torque curve. It is a lot of fun though if it is working as it should!

Well, I bought it for fun... I have a 72 Corvette 4 speed 350 HP plus 100 Shot Nos... and my DD is a C6 400 hp+... so this is a toy I just wanted... I think the Delorean is cool. I love all the help offered, thanks.
