I am hoping that someone on this forum has installed the new moulded carpet that DMC Texas sells. If so, is there a step by step how to do it available? I doubt that I will attempt to do it myself but I would like to have instructions available.
Thanks,
Rod

Take out the seats and the center console. The rest should be a piece of cake once that is done.

About 80% of it goes very quickly. The cubbyhole cover and the e-brake cover are the real PITA parts. The lower back wood deck piece is kind of fiddly too.

What about the side sills, do those still require the removal of the A-pillar?

No, it does not go that high up. They are glued at the edges, you remove the inner weatherstripping and put it back on.

I put the new carpet in my car and trust me if I can do it you can,
i took out the seats but not the console this is not a move that has to be done. Just take you time and pay attention to how you remove the old carpet and go back the same way.

Thanks for the feedback Andy. Did you use the DMC Texas carpet set? Is there any particular order that works best for installing the 14 individual pieces?

I installed that set - its fairly easy. You won't have any problem doing it yourself. You can do many of the parts in whatever order suits you. Do it all in one sitting, or 1 piece of time over the course of days or weeks of you prefer.
Th advantage of doing it all at once is you get the satisfaction of having it all back together at once so you can pat yourself on the back more readily.
Don't be afraid to tackle it...

Really not that bad to do and it is a fun job to do. Be careful not to mess glue on the carpet.
The preformed should be the easiest to install I guess.
I would like to see some pictures before / during / after however........
Do not forget to replace the insulation at the cargo shelf so you can enjoy the smell of new car carpet.

As Dave said, the handbrake is a pain. Just go slow and if you can get someone to help, it makes things much easier. It is also difficult to bend the carpet around the panel behind the seats. I added a couple of staples (on the back side out of sight) to hold it in place before making the 180 degree bend over the top of the plywood. And yes, The foam in the back is what gives deloreans that distinctive "aroma", so replacing is is a good idea.

Yes i installed the dmc texas carpet, as you take the old one out you will see the best way to go back in, this was very easy to do. Just take you time and pay attention to the fit, mine looks nice and i had never did this type of thing before.

I have looked for a "how to do it " at the usual places for center console removal and have not found a resource. I would appreciate it if someone who has done it could give me some guidance.
Thanks,
Rod

Work Shop Manual Body- Interior P:03:03
You don't need to remove the Arm rest part ( piece w/ ash tray)
If you don't have a manual refer to the Work Shop Manual "Sticky" in resources section
