Yesterday I sent a note to AutoZone customer support asking if I could work with someone to get our cars listed in their database. Below is a
copy of the email I sent them and the response I received. It should be interesting to see how this works out.

Hello,

For the past two years I have been compiling a list of AutoZone parts
that will work in 1981-1983 Delorean cars. I have been compiling this
list myself as AutoZone does not have Delorean listed in their
database. I would like to know if it would be possible for me to work
with someone within AutoZone to get this part information entered into
the AutoZone database. Below is a small sample of the many part
numbers that I have verified work on Delorean cars.
Oil pressuer switch - Part # PS133
Starter - Part # 16894
Battery - Part# 78DLG
Clutch Master Cylinder Rebuild Kit - Part # 22320
Ignition Rotor - Part # RB931
Distributor Cap - Part # RB916
AC Blower Motor - - Part # PM106
AC Low Pressure Cut-Out Switch - Part # MT0207
Gas Cap - Part # 6810
Brake Pads (Front) - Part # D59
Brake Pads (Rear) - Part # D9
Starter Relay - Part # 19861
Dipped Beam Relay - Part # 19861
Main Beam Relay - Part # 19861
Fan 3rd Speed Relay - Part # 19861
Fan 4th Speed Relay - Part # 19861
Cooling Fan Relay - Part # 19861
Start Inhibit Relay - Part #
19861 AC Illumination Relay - Part # 19861

Thanks,
Stephen Rice

In other words, if one person doesn't want to go the distance to verify these parts (will they need to borrow a car?) or feels they are being shown up in their job, it'll never happen.

I hope I'm wrong. It could make a world of difference for some out there.

I'm able to function just fine without parts being listed in their database but I'm just trying to make a difference for other people. There are many people who have never even heard of this forum, or the DML, and their cars are sitting just because they think they cannot get parts. Believe it or not, there is an entire generation of people out there that have never used the internet.

Yeah, but those are the people who get frustrated with their cars and sell them to others at affordable prices so that more people who have the means to enjoy the car are able to do so. And by means, I'm not talking about money but intelligence.

So are you saying these cars will be less affordable if AutoZone starts selling Delorean parts?

:headscratch: yeah? I don't know, but I know I can get behind Steve's idea! What a stand up thing to do.

You will never get anywhere with this.

Everyone knows that before you ask autozone a question you must first state ,year, make, model, engine size and transmission type.

What makes you think I can't assist AutoZone in getting year, make, model, engine size, and transmission type in their computer?

Congrats. Start a new thread (if you haven't already) and post pics. There are a handful of DFW owners including myself. PM me if interested.

Apologies for getting slightly off-topic...
