So while most of my engine is laying on the garage floor and since I'm in the tune up mood I want to adjust my rocker arms. One question what do you use to turn the engine by hand??? Looking at it there is almost no room between the crank pulley and the damn muffler. And I can't really tell what I need to turn. Almost looks like I would have to install a bolt into the center and use that to turn it. I'm grateful for any ideas.

Blast it, I miss working on chevy smallblocks. So simple....

Put the car in gear and bump the car forward (if it is a manual trans). This will turn the crank accordingly.

I didn't have room to move the car since it was inside my garage, which has a sloped driveway in front, so I just took the muffler off. Not really a big deal, but then again I have a 2nd generation Stage I system which made it easy enough, so I can't speak from experience on taking off the stock. Doing that give you all the clearance you'd want to turn the crank pulley.

After I did that though, someone gave a tip (on the old dmctalk) of also how to turn the engine, without having to move the car. It was:
Put the car on 5th gear. (disconnect fuel, battery, be safe, etc., etc.)
Lift rear on stands until the tires clear and can spin freely. (chock front, be safe, etc., etc.)
Once up, wedge one side of the rear tires so it can't spin, I used my Rhino ramp for that.
Now when you turn the free spinning wheel on the other side, the engine turns.

I tried it once just to check it out, and hit myself with my breaker bar at how much easier that was than removing the muffler.

Good luck.
(These cars aren't that bad to work on, like all cars, they sometimes require different tricks.)
