In the process of replacing my clutch slave cylinder I found that the rubber boot over the clutch fork http://store.delorean.com/p-8456-boot-clutch-fork.aspx was torn away from the rivets that hold it in place. I have sourced a new boot but have no idea how I'm going to attach it.

I don't think I can drill out the old rivets because the pieces inside the transmission will drop down into the clutch and that seems like a bad idea.

I thought about using a washer and small screw through the hole in the rivet and hoping it stays together.

Any one have any ideas or run into this?

You can press the new boot over the rivets . Do not take them out.

Jesus! I'm such an idiot. What was I thinking? Of course - it's just rubber.

I should probably ask the moderators to merge this thread with the "Stupid DeLorean Comment of The Day"

Thanks, Dave.
