I'm breaking the AMU to repaint it and when I took it apart, I noticed a small amount (about 3cc's worth) of a reddish fluid inside it. It almost looked like ATF but obviously there isn't anything like that in sight of my car.
Any ideas what it is and is it normal? Do I have to replace it? Thanks.

Its not supposed to be there so just clean it out. As for where it came from, do you have a K&N air filter that was recently over-oiled?

It could also be that someone at some point poured some kind of cleaner into the air intake and some of it pooled inside. Just wipe it up. If it keeps reappearing then I would worry.

Thanks for the help. I cleaned it up and can't find where it came from or any more of it. My only guess is that it might've been some type of cleaner that was used at some point after my car sat for awhile with the PO.
And no, I just have the standard stock air filter.
