So I was just under my wife's car checking the source of a new oil leak, and I found something odd...

Just below the oil filter is what appears to be an oil pressure sensor... This car already has a non-standard oil pan, so no idea what the history is here.
It occurs to me that if one were to have a oil level sensor on this engine, this is a likely spot. Does volvo have an oil level sensor in this spot by any chance?
Either way, its leaking. There is no plug shown on the parts page of the D store... I have a bolt (with copper washer perhaps?) plugging this hole on my car. any idea of the specs on the bolt and washer, or a D part number?
I assume oil will leak out when I remove this sensor, can anyone confirm?

This looks to be an Oil Temp sensor. I doubt the sensor itself is leaking. You would expect to have wet oil in around the sensor not oily dirt build up all over and above on the case. This says timing or rocker cover seepage to me. Perhaps when the engine was going through the assembly process they ran out of plugs and simply needed to fill the hole or someone made a mistake. I'd vote convenient plug.
I just have a plug in that location. Is this the 1993 Universal raffle car?

Not the raffle car, that one is mine. This is on my wife's auto. Its filthy enough around it that I'll clean it up and see if i can better find the source...

If it's a stamped metal pan, it most likely is Volvo.
I'll try to dig up info on Volvo engine blocks and report back.

When things leak they tend to leak down and to the rear of the car. It does not look like the "sensor" is leaking. Clean the area up and watch it but I think the source of the leak is from above, possibly the oil filter. Mess with it the next time you change the oil. Once you remove the sensor you will know what size and thread to get to plug it up.
