Hi all, Much like the thread title says, I'm having a small hot restart issue. It doesn't last very long only a few minutes then clears up. If the engine is at operating temp and i shut it down for 10 mins to an hour it has a rough idle when i restart it. Like a small miss. No power issues or anything just a bit of an annoyance. After it restarts and runs for about 3-5 mins the idle goes back to normal. It's usually normal after i go around the block and stop at the first traffic light. Not real sure if this is a fuel or ignition problem. I do think it may be fuel related, like a leaky or worn out injector. The symptoms are very similar when an injector starts to go on a large truck diesel engines.

What should I check first and what should the process of elimination be starting with the easiest thing first.

My guess would be the same, leaking injector. But I would think that would clear up faster. Just pull the injectors, put in jars, prime the pump and look for leaks.

Have the injectors cleaned.

How do you guys feel about using a fuel system cleaner like sea foam?

Most of the time they do not work. One I have tried and seems to work on mildly dirty injectors is Chevron Techron. Nothing beats pulling the injectors out and cleaning them and testing them in an injector tester/cleaner.
