View Full Version : General Am I better to wait to do final alignment of doors when engine & tranny are back in??

Currently I have the engine and tranny pulled on my car. In between waiting for engine parts I decided to pull the T Panel and re-secure my roof box down to the sub-body. I used the carriage bolt & fender washer fix. My roof box did have quite a bit of movement. Thus, for the last couple of years I have never been able to get my doors to fully align correctly. Since I have all of the tension released off of the torsion bars I assume I am fine to re-torque them and install the spline brackets back onto the rear of the roof box.

My Question: Should I even mess with trying to align the doors on the striker pins without the extra weight of the engine and tranny pressent? Or should I just wait and align them later?

Thanks for any input!

I would wait till the car is fully assembled and all four wheels are on the ground. You could do the adjustments but you may have to tweak it some if you do not wait.

That was kind of my thinking as well. Thanks!
