Does anyone know when and why DMC started riveting tags above the VIN plate in the door jamb that reads- "Compliance with radio interference regulations"? I took a pic of one in VIN 10291. Never heard of this before. Looks like the VIN plate, so I'm sure it's factory. It has the original Craig stereo.

I believe that was only attached to Canadian cars. It's in the workshop manual, general section if I'm not mistaken. A:08:04 and A:08:05.

Mine has one (10270) and was originally sold in Detroit. I'd like a new one, or a stencil for repainting, as mine is a bit worn in the center.

This additional metal plate is unique to some 1982 models, including a sub-set of "1983" models that were re-VIN'd for the Canadian market.

There does not appear to be a direct relationship with the later Craig radios vs. the ASI radios that were installed in the early 1982 models.
The majority of 1982 models and all of the 1983 models came equipped with the ASI radio.

The additional metal plate is installed above the door sill VIN plate in most cases, but there are a few examples of an "under VIN plate" install.
