Hey all,
Weird question. My GF decided to feed this stray cat a few weeks ago...now it's taken up semi-permanent residence in our garage. The moment that happened, I put my Wolf cover on the car so the cat (who seems pretty mellow) wouldn't mess with the car - just as a precaution.
Well, he/she/it has decided it likes to sleep on the hood. The cat has only been in the garage overnight twice now, and it's a skinny cat. But still - can the weight of a cat damage a DeLorean hood? Again, the car is covered with a thick Wolf cover, but I'm thinking Hood-X, etc...

I suppose it all depends on the size of the pussy.

errr, no. The weight of a cat will not give you hood-X.
Now if it were a duck, that would be a whole different problem.
The cat may however, shred the car cover, shed on the car cover, spray on the wheels if feeling territorial, hide in the engine bay if cold and scratch the stainless if you leave the windows open and it tries to get inside.
So no worries, really.

HAHA - OK. Well, I don't leave the windows open. The car is always under the cover when parked in the garage. So far it doesn't appear the cat has damaged the cover in any way. Still...I will discuss this with the GF and see if we can reach a compromise.

Whoa! Welcome back man. I've been wondering what happened to you.
We have a few stray cats on my street and they have a habit of getting on my cars as well. I'm to lazy to put a car cover on 16510 so it has several scratches on the hood. Its just something I've learned to live with. Its just part of life I guess.

Compromise means one of two things in a relationship. It involves both of you coming to a solution that she can agree on. Basically either she gets her way or you end up a single man. Trust me, I know.

HAHA - Well, I don't think with the thickness of the cover I will get any scratches on the stainless, but I am concerned about other incidental damage given the tenacity and random destructive acts of these critters. Given that it has already chosen the DeLorean over the Mustang as its preferred sleeping perch, I'm both impressed and annoyed. Maybe there's a way to stop it from getting up there...

None.
The only way is to keep it out of the garage. Perhaps let it sleep in your bed.........:wiggle:

A cat could damage the S/S if it urinated on it. It would probably stain it but it could probably be cleaned by sanding it if you didn't wash it right away. If you don't want the cat on the car put a box where the cat likes to sit. The good news is you don't have to worry about mice getting into the car!

I had a neighbors can that liked to sleep on the hood of my convertible. Dang thing always left a mat of hair. So one day, I covered the roof in pepper, thinking when the cat gets up there, it'll never come back. Next day, no sign of the cat, however plenty of cat vomit all over the roof. Still not sure who came out on top in that war.

Oranges.
Specifically, orange peel.
Cats hate the smell of it. Go get some oranges, peel them, make a nice fruit salad with them, and scatter the orange peel on your hood.
Problem solved.

To keep a neighborhood cat from sleeping on the top of my Jaguar XJS Droptop I hung a small bag of mothballs just a couple of inches from the top ... problem solved.:D

Maybe...maybe...though in this case I dunno if the cat was actually responsible
