Does anyone know the steering column specs or where to get them?

I'm looking for info like... 1. Steering column length, 2. OD of spline shaft and number so splines.

Not sure where to get specs for the Steering Column but on the ends of the Steering Column Rod there are 36 Splines. I don't have digital calipers to measure the OD of the Steering Rod. Perhaps some one else can?

Which part of the Steering Column are you looking to measure? I ask since the Rod rotates inside a tube. And that tube is surrounded by the black painted collapsable tube which is designed to crush under the force of your body slamming into the steering wheel when you hit 88 mph and run smack into the side of a building that didn't exist in the past.

That's my biggest concern when time traveling. Is there going to be something in my way when I arrive???
OOPS off topic.

I'm researching a crazy idea... I really like the idea of power steering, otherwise I'll never get my wife to drive the D, but the Euro option is just too expensive. So I'm thinking, take a steering column from another car (some UK reports of using Corsas - a Vauxhall model I think) with electric powered steering, and then fit to the Delorean using something like a spud shaft (http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-716835/) to get the diameter, length, and splines correct. It is a long shot, but there are enough steering column options out there, it might just work. It has been difficult getting enough details out about the options to even size up the likelihood.
