That looks like a cheesy repair job. Earlier models were 2 piece and came loose. Looks like someone RTV'd it.

I dunno - but why is it there? I've never see it before.

If you want some "black caulk" that'll be as durable as anything you can dish out... Get yourself some 3M urethane windshield adheasive.

But yea, normally that's not there.

Guys. Hold the snyde remarks. I now realize that the RTV is not factory but probably a PO job. If the "caulk" was not factory then it will come off. Period.

So, my question is: How do I separate the two pieces on either side of the RTV? The end cap popped off easily as it was just glued on there, but what I really want to remove is the "ablong" padded part from the larger panel. How?

Also, what is the part number for this panel?

To remove it, you'll have to remove the entire interior panel and drill out the rivets holding it. Even then I'm not sure what will happen.

It's part 110170 on http://store.delorean.com/c-319-8-7-5-general-interior-trim.aspx (I'm assuming it's the 2 piece one since it was RTVd into place and you have a really early VIN)

Easy there thin skin, if you get your feathers ruffled that easy maybe you need to stay away from the internets.

Just FYI these panels have been unavailable for a long time. I know because I'd like a set too.

It depends. Drivers side is unavailable in any color/style. Passenger side is available in both 1 piece and 2 piece but only in black (according to Houston's site)
