Just found this website. It could be the answer to several problems at once.
intellitronix.com

They sell individual gauges and they also sell a kit you can customize to replace all of your gauges. This could eliminate all of the speedometer, oil pressure, and fuel gauge problems.

Good find. They also have a "GPS SPEEDOMETER SENDER" - how cool is that? Perfectly accuracy and easy install.

I'll be following this thread.

I don't see the value in these. It appears to be another Dakota Digital type setup. Last I checked very few people were interested in digital readout gauges.

If people really want a whole cluster of new gauges, just wait for what I'll have to show next spring...

I saw those on Gearz but I didn't think they were very impressive. The gauges are very generic and cheap looking. At least in my opinion.

That's how I found it too, on Gears. I am not proposing everyone does a wholesale change-out of their dash but maybe there is some way we could use this technology. Maybe to customize a sending unit for the speedo or the fuel gauge? For those going the EFI route it gives them an electronic dash that can interface with the EFI. Anyway I mentioned it for others to see what is out there. As for a GPS speedo, just about all of the GPS units can do that, just not on your dash.

I'm already doing this. Bye bye angle drive, and hello backlighting!

Yes there haven't been any updates in a while, but it's still progressing just fine.

I really like the idea of a self contained electronic sending unit. It is light years ahead of the stock setup and probably infinitely more reliable. Looks great Jim, Please keep us updated on your progress!

My GPS has great MPH display. Pretty much the same reading as the dash gauge at any speed or acceleration, deceleration. It uses accelerometers to speed up the the slow updating of the GPS accuracy.

I did check them out for the possibility of a fuel gauge solution. My old and feeble mind can't keep up with two cars with faulty gauges. I'm bound to run either the D or the Mustang out of gas eventually.

I shouldn't have immediately written them off like that. Their sending units don't look cheap. I didn't think about using them to power other gauges.
