I like the engine. Who are you and are you offering Delorean restoration to other owners as well? I ask because your profile says Delorean Restoration Shop.

Do you think the car will be in some of your locally produced "films" when it's finished?

My Name's Andy,I'm the owner Delorean Restoration Center. we opened January of this year , Prior to this year i worked 4 years for Delorean One along with my Father who worked for Delorean One for 23 years ( Started back when Ed Berstein and Steven Wynn were Partners). About a year ago Delorean One decided they would go a different route with there business . Leaving a lot of their customers looking for a place to go, we decided open our own shop.

I know Delorean One has a really bad reputation on this forum on how the owner handled business. Instead of lying about how we came about... i just rather be honest. I really hope that everyone thoughts and opinion about Delorean One don't get passed over to us. We still do the same great work, just with a different perspective on business.

We are in Los Angeles County, City of Chatsworth. Website is in the works. You guys can PM me here. I check this place out once or twice a day. Once i get a hardline put into this new place. I'll put a phone number up. Thanks Josh... Nice Spec 1 exhaust by the way. I've been eyeing it for myself for a couple days now.

Good post. Definitely best to be up front about how you came to be.

I have read the the work D1 did was good , but you are obviously aware of the "customer service" that Ed was famous for.

Say what you'll do, and do what you say.

Good to have you around.

I do want to ask though, do you have any relationship with Ed at all now? Is he a part of your business at all? Did you inherit the D1 service records?

Looking forward to your open house?

Andy,

I'd like to know what the Different Route with there business is? (other than retiring) Surely ED's "Exclusive Customers" weren't so gullible as to believe the rhetoric Ed fed them in regards to the other DMC service facility in the LA area. Either way, their are plenty of Deloreans to go around that need restoration. Adding another Service Facility is a good for the community. Good luck on your venture your gonna need it.

Awesome news. I have two D's and I live in West Hills, about 5 miles from Chatsworth. (I went to Chatsworth High school)

Is the car you are restoring an 82.. plate "RTAFAX"? Vin (10871 or 10781)

Are you doing service as well?

He does call in to see how everything is going for us, he is not part of my business , we do help him out with his personal cars, but that's pretty much the only interaction with each other... I did not get the Service records.. but if your car was serviced by D1, and you'd like a copy of service records.. I'll try and ask him on a good day if i could get a copy. :thumbup2: just PM me a VIN

To be Honest... I'm still unsure what he means by Different Direction... Right now his focus is his personal car.. But retirement is a big part of it.

Hey Jeff... I think i've heard of you from all my friends... You must be the Delorean that everyone talks about seeing on Victory and Fallbrook... I had a neighbor who i didn't get around to talk to here in Winnetka with 2 deloreans as well . A SS Delorean and Red one. I believe he's moved away now. Actually this car is from out of state, and yes we do Service Deloreans... I'm currently working on Forum members car from Sherman oaks.

Hi Andy, nice name!

Interesting story. I think you will find the online community is willing to support you as long as your customer service and workmanship is honest and professional. Treat us right and we will sing your praises. Mess up repeatedly and you will be as popular as D1 around here ;-)

I wish you luck and look forward to seeing more pics and stories.

Man, that is nice! I can't even tell what's new and what's refurbished; it all looks like I bet it did when it arrived at the original DMC factory from the supplier. With that kind of work, it shouldn't be too long (or too hard) to build a good reputation within the community.

Seriously though, get some sleep. No need to stay up until after midnight to post an update. We understand busy days, and updates can wait until morning. Give yourself a pat on the back and a good night's sleep for progress well done.

I looked through the thread and didn't see this answered yet, but I'm curious as to where the parts are coming from. Unless I'm mistaken, the horns don't look like OEM/NOS, which got me thinking. I saw some parts are from Bernie (DeLorean One?), so that has me wondering: where did everything come from?
