I am trying to replace my front wheel hubs, the driver came off no problem. I have the nut off both ends of the stub on the passenger side (the inside one was fun, not). I had to use a gear puller to get the hub portion off but now the stub axle is stuck in the front upright. Tried PB blaster, big hammer from the back (not much room back there) but it won't budge. I want to remove the front upright so I can use the gear puller from the other side to pop the stub axle off. Do I need to compress the spring to take off the upright?
Thanks,
Jake

Can you post a picture of what you are trying to do? If you want to remove the spindle the spring can stay in. All that is required is pulling the upper and lower ball joints and rod end from the rack, brake line and angle drive depending on side.

Sorry it's kinda blurry from my phone. Basically the middle arrow shows the stud stuck. The two other arrows show where it looks like the upright connects (tie rod, lower and upper ball joints) Just want to make sure if I take that upright off that is holding the stud that it won't expand the spring and injur me :).

You will be fine as long as:
A- you do not have cut stock springs
B- your frame isn't rotted out and the lower control arm can over extend
C- you leave the sway bar connected in all locations

Thanks for the help, I was able to drop the upright to get a gear puller on the back and force the stub out. Scared the crap out of me when it finally gave, amazing how stuck it was. Thanks again.
