View Full Version : Ace Frehley (KISS) DeLorean Incident

I just read an excerpt from Ace's autobiography about what he refers to as the "DeLorean incident" in the chapter titled "Fast Cars, Celebs, and Betty White". It's an interesting little tale about the hour long escapade where a drunk and high Ace Freheley drives a speeding DeLorean through New York (sometimes in the wrong direction) with a dozen or so police cars chasing after him. It's cool hearing from the man himself what was going through his mind at the time and all the little details about what went on during chase and afterwards.
In the book, he also wrecks a Porsche 928.
Most of you, I'm sure, know about this to some degree, but I thought I'd mention the book and that particular section which actually made the DeLorean sound pretty darn wicked. I like hearing about the D in pop culture in other ways than BTTF. At the time this happened, there was no BTTF and the DeLorean was a car for rich rock stars and playboys!
Also, does anyone know the whereabouts of the car? Any pics, VIN, anything at all?

He wrote this song, because of this experience:

Someone said a few years ago that the car was parted out, and if you bought one of his albums, you got a chunk of the car. Never did validate this story though.

On .com DMCH confirmed that the car still exists but are unwilling to reveal the VIN.

I wonder if he still has it.

In the interview I saw (cannot source it, sorry) he said no, but he remembered it as a "nice ride.". Shocking that he remembers much, of course.

The original police report / impound paperwork would probably have the VIN, if anyone has any friends in the NYPD.

Searching for pictures of Ace F and his D, brings up three totally useless images.

First up: VideoBob and Ace

At the time, the current owner didn't want the car to be identified. I've learned that the car has changed hands again.

The car was originally sold to Paul D. Frehley, 29 Tito Lane, Wilton, CT 06897 by dealer 07104 (Import Cars of Greenwich, CT) and is VIN 5712.

Thanks James. Now that we know which car it was, do you have any knowledge of its current relative condition.

Thanks for the information James. I hope the current owner can tell us of past damage repaired, any cool rock star remnants left behind or any other anecdotes.

You know, for some reason I'm not surprised a badass rockstar picked up his DeLorean in posh, old money, Greenwich

I have spent some time with Ace via my friend Vinnie Paul, they did a celebrity poker show on VH1 together and we all went to dinner afterwards.
I had a steak with Ace on my left and we talked about his Delorean.
He told me one story about when he went to a party and handed a guy who he THOUGHT was the valet the keys and the guy took off in the car...
he eventually got it back but didn't report it.
Pretty awesome night!

Photoshopped?
How about this, if you ever get to meet Ace, ask him about Videobob who works with Vinnie Paul and has the Delorean,
took him to dinner at the Rio in Vegas after the VH1 Celebrity Poker show (where we took this photo).
They re-run it all the time and show close up's of me in the audience.

Here is a video I shot of ACE when he came to do our "Ride For Dime Event".
Vinnie played drums, Bobzilla was on bass and Corey Taylor (Slipnot) did vocals.
I was in front of Ace's monitor so the sound was a little unbalanced.
I shot this with my little Sony digital cyber shot camera.

Here I am chatting with him backstage just before this video.

Why did you cut you Screetch? lol
Oh, I have way better one's than that on there... have a field day.
I wish I could sell you the rest of the story about that giant dildo, but it was called "The Great American Challenge".
Needless to say there is this Mexican chick we know and that is her new nickname.
If you ever meet me in person, I will show you the photos, just ask.
