View Full Version : General Anyone else have problems ordering from DPI?

Over two and a half months ago I ordered a SPEC II upgrade and engine rebuild kit from DPI. When I placed the order, my credit card was charged in full, but the parts have only trickled in slowly.

At this point I'm still missing cylinder heads, timing chains, and the intake manifold, I have no ETA on the parts, no explanation of why these parts are so late, and Josh doesn't seem to be returning my calls.

The impression I'm getting is that Josh is the victim of his own success. It seems that he's now got more work than he can handle, and rather than being honest about it he's just stringing me along.

But as of now Josh has my money, I don't have a working car, and there is no end to the situation in sight.

I'm waiting on parts too! Left message and sent emails, no reply.

Stepping in on this with Josh out of shop for a few days.

Stex and Jason. Josh flew down to Puerto Rico yesterday afternoon to finish installing a engine package for a owner. We are desperately trying to break him of the habit of doing everything himself. He ported the main shop line and took it with him because he insists on talking to everyone to keep the business personable. The shop line is attached to his hip and he always makes sure to get back to everyone. Please contact me directly tonight at my company email at [email protected] as part of your order was damaged by ups during shipping. (picture attached) I have contacted out cylinder head porting service and they will be pushing a set threw to the front of the line for you immediately. Josh's flight lands at 10 tomorrow night. He will make a B line for his office and I will leave a note for him to also contact you on the matter. Steve, I looked up your order number for a heater core. We pressure test all of our units prior to shipping due to everything just to be safe. I will make sure the order is back from the tester and shipping in the am. Please contact me at the above address so I can confirm the shipment in the morning.

In response to your first statement; Yes he is a victim of his own success. If he isn't some where in the world helping an owner he is at DPI at 5am and leaves at 11 or later every night 7 days a week. His strange devotion to this car and it's owners is beyond my comprehension to say the least. Since I began a professional career with him he has passed up many business opportunities leaving us here shaking our heads. All for keeping his company direction and image strictly Delorean based at all costs. As things have grown ten fold he has been working very hard to surround himself with the right people which is a hard process taking many years. I personally mostly handle Stainless Works exhaust system sales (I'm surprised he even does this since it is not Delorean related) for the company and have recently started to work into the Delorean side of things.

Yeah, like you'd have talked him out of a trip to Puerto Rico even if he delegated everything to everyone else. :P

So that people know how things turned out...

The cylinder heads and the rest of the parts I've been waiting on finally arrived today. In the meantime Chris has been good about keeping me updated as to what was going on.

The heads look quite nice, so it this point I'm a happy camper. It's all up to me now to get the engine reassembled without screwing anything up.

So far overall, other than the lateness and lack of progress updates, I'm very impressed with the spec 2 upgrade kit. The quality of the parts are great, and the kit includes a lot of little extras that I wasn't expecting.

Again, sorry for the delay. I needed to be much clear on the time frame for the custom one off parts as everything is build and or machined to order for different owners needs.
