I am trying to turn it in place. I turned it counter-clockwise and the numbers are not changing. I guess I should turn it clockwise??

I don't think you can reset it... think it must be replaced.

Clockwise. Keep turning until it goes to all zeros. If you go too far just go around again.

It is easier if you remove it. The easy way to remove it is to remove the whole bracket rather than trying to take the unit off the bracket.

I just took it off and reset it. Total job time was 6 minutes. Thanks for all of the tips!

Worth cleaning and regreasing?

I just wiped it down, it was not that dirty. I did spray some grease into the holes where the speedo cable goes into.

You want to be careful with that. It was probably already greased and adding more (to excess, that is) could cause it to bind up, which could damage your speedo. It only takes 5 minutes to open it up and clean the parts, then add just a thin layer of fresh grease in the right spots and put it back together.
