View Full Version : Electrical Hazard light switch terminals

Here's an obscure one, which seems to be my kind of issue 99% of the time...

While removing my radio bracket this past weekend, a wire on the hazard light switch broke loose from its terminal. After removing the terminal, it needs to be replaced, but I cannot seem to find one! There are two styles of terminals used in this particular AMP connector: one that is a small and standard-looking (like this: http://goo.gl/T4M6M), and the other one that is square with four prongs that make contact with the switch terminal. I need the square one and naturally that's the one I cannot find!

I gave up looking locally and after a good hour scouring the Tyco website, all I am finding are standard blade "Faston" terminals. I've seen absolutely nothing even remotely close to the square one. I've spent some quality time on Mouser.com and then moved to the Tyco website, but am STILL striking out.

Does anyone know A) how to ID that terminal and/or B) where I can find one (or a small quantity... preferably less than 5,000 or so)?

Thanks!
Travis

Back on the case over lunch... I think I'm getting closer:

This is an AMP "Junior Timer" terminal, which is found on the engine harness (CPR and CSV connectors, amongst others), but it certainly looks close from what I can remember (don't have the car handy and didn't pull out another pin.

If anyone can confirm one way or the other, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll report back later this week when I get them in.

Travis - check this out:

http://www.wurthusa.com/web/media/downloads/pdf/pdf_catalog/03_Electrical_March2012.pdf

On page #89, item 15567075. Any help? Those are the terminals Dave S told me are used in the Bosch-style engine harness connectors.

At the very worst that catalog has virtually every kind of pin and terminal in the universe in it :) Good luck!

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the link. That's the one I was looking at and I have a few on the way.

FWIW, those Bosch connectors are really AMP "Junior Timer" connectors, so if anyone is searching for replacement connectors, boots, terminals, or even the little metal clip that holds them on, that term might yield additional results (and from non-automotive sources, like Mouser or Digi-Key). I've always heard them referred to as "Bosch connectors" too - I guess Bosch was the biggest user of them.

To follow-up on this post, the AMP Junior Timer terminal is the correct choice for a few of the pins on the back of the hazard switch. Back in business!
