Parking brake hinge bolt torque

I have been looking for a couple hours now for the torque that should be applied to the parking brake hinge bolt, circled below.

I don't think they should be too tight because then the parking brake wouldn't be able to work.

The hinge bolts are only threaded at the top so you don't need to worry about binding up the parking brake as you tighten the bolts. Once installed the bolt just acts like a smooth pin for the parking brake shoes to pivot on. Tightening the bolt more will not squeeze the caliper tighter around the parking brake in any way.

As far as a torque spec the standard for other M6 bolts in the service manual is ~8 ft-lbs, so I'd torque to that value and then rotate whatever small fraction more so the flats of the bolt head line up with the washer plate below and you can bend up the tabs.

Thanks, I don't know how I missed that :facepalm:. I am moving from SC to MO in a week and a half. Also, I am picking up my frame from the galvanizers today....... So I gotta get it rolling in that time. My brain is fried

You should also use Never-Seize sparingly on the edges of the pads and the pin part of the bolt so the pads can always move freely. Torque is not all that important on those bolts because you are locking them with the plate. Just don't over-torque them. If the pads don't mover freely you might have to file the edges slightly or clean the holes where the pin goes. BOTH pads MUST move freely or you will wear them out quickly.

Because these bolts are only threaded at the top torque will not effect the parking brake action. If you need a torque number to feel better about it I would use 11ft/lb. The same as all the 7mm hardware. Make sure you bend over the upper tabs to lock the bolts in place.
