Brake pedal problem

So i've been having a brake problem ever since I bought my Delorean in July, and it now seems to be getting worse. Whenever light, slow pressure is applied to the brake pedal, it usually just goes to the floor and the stoping power is almost enitrely gone, but if I step on the pedal rather heavily, the pedal height is good, and the car brakes fine. I don't think it is air in the system, as the foot pressure would not affect that problem, which leads me to believe that it is the seals in the master cylinder. I don't have any of the information for the master cylinder, so I don't know if it has been rebuilt or if it is new, but has anyone encountered a similar problem, or know exactly what it is? I have recently bled the brakes, have no leaks, and there is plenty of fluid in the cylinder, so it's nothing that simple... Any help would be great!

I had the same symptoms a year ago. For me, it was a bad master cylinder.

When I first got my car, my brake pedal used to travel at least 70% of the way before I felt any resistance or braking. I put this replacement in and have not worried about it since.

Definitely a Master Cylinder failure. It can leak internally or externally. Internal leaks will show no external signs or fluid loss. External leaks can be seen on the booster and will eventually cause epoxy damage to the frame / fuel closing plate.

My vote is also a bad master cylinder. What does the brake fluid look like? Is it very dark and thick looking?Is the level low? If so you should probably figure on rebuilding the whole brake system. If you have a 5-speed you are also probably looking at replacing the master and slave cylinders for the clutch too. Old brake fluid corrodes the insides of the systems and eventually they leak. Often externally but the master can also leak internally. Look under the driver's side carpet for brake fluid and underneath on the frame.
