Racing history.

Anyone have or know of any Racing history documentation for the Delorean.I remember seeing a picture of a Delorean race car that I think was campaigned by a French team.The picture was at a endurance race of some kind back in the day at a track in Europe or maybe California.I don`t think it was Sebring.The doors,I think ,had been modified for safety and egress.I have thought of a rally look for a Delorean would be cool for my next car if I could find a beater that really didn`t have a chance of being restored.Thanks,for any help.6864Steve.

One of the members here has that picture on their wall. I do not recall who exactly, but I do remember them posting a picture somewhere in a thread relating to racing D's. It was commissioned by the original DMC in conjunction with Legend Industries, designed as a twin turbo D. I saved the eBay ad (pictures and page) when I saw it back in August of 2008. I'm sure whoever wound up with it can provide a better/bigger picture if they desire.

I don't happen to know of any races where a DeLorean made an appearance, but I do know some magazines (e.g. Car and Driver) got their usual statistics about acceleration times, perhaps there's something in relation to that?

The only ones I can think of with a roll cage was the Clamato rally car and the one that deloman created in Germany a couple of years ago. The latter did go circuit racing.

Steve W and Ed B did some racing back in the D-1 days, though I think it was more cross-country than circuit I recall an issue of Delorean World, from the eighties I believe, that had at least one photo of Steve and Ed in a Delorean in a racing configuration. Numbers, decals, spare tire on the louvers ... I believe Ed was driving. Got my curiosity up now, I'm gonna look for it.

A DeLorean shop in Germany has turned its car into a racing car.
If you can read German, there's a lot of info on their website www.deloman.de.

Here's a picture of the car at a racing track (not sure which one), but it has been racing at the Salzburgring in August 2012.

Wasn't there a "rally" project DeLorean that a list member bought. It was on the old Dmctalk. Didn't run, weird multi-colored seats, peeling/fading decals, leaves all throughout the car, roll cage, perhaps engine transplant with secondary radiator. It was raced in Mexico or something weird like that. This is all from memory.

I don't think you'll get flamed for it. I believe they've posted a few photos from the build on here. I absolutely love that Delorean. It's very well built and a great way to prove that D's can be racecars.

Thats my car. It's still in my Dads shop. Was hoping to get her going but got sidetracked with my Marty toyota this summer. Still plan on putting an sti motor in it.
