How do you remove them? The more I look at it the more it looks like the Dash Pad needs to come out. And to remove the Dash Pad, you have to remove the A pillar trim... And the A pillar vinyl trim is wrapped and glued around the A pillar. Seems like a pain. I hope I'm wrong!

You do not need to remove anything other than the speakers themselves. Check out the "Choice Of Speaker" thread. Let me see if i can find it for you.

Just get on your back with a 6.5mm socket plus an extension and remove the 2 nuts holding each speaker in place.

Easypeasy.

OK, Dave. Thanks. It just looked like the speaker was sandwiched in there but at a second look it might just pull right out (especially of you say so :).

The hard part is getting them back in. Modern speakers stick up too much, and getting the nuts on the studs without having them stick to the magnet first is a very good test of manual dexterity.

Here's a trick I discovered for that! Use a socket one size too large and stuff some thin foam or electrical tape in the socket before you put the nut in. The friction/tackiness was enough to hold the nuts into the driver long enough to at least get the first thread on, then I switched to the correct size socket to finish the job.

Could you use all-nylon nuts here (maybe doubled up as locknuts) or would they have a limited lifespan?

I just placed the nut in the socket and put a piece of scotch tape over it. Worked like a charm. The post easily went through the tape and the nut threaded on no problem.

And if you drop the nut It's generally easy to find. It's usually stuck to the speaker magnet. :thumbup2:
