Anyone know the physical dimensions of the stock DeLorean muffler? Looking at replacing it with a custom one in the same style setup, just want too know how much physical room I have to work with. Thanks!

As a follow-up, I'm just wondering if a 5.5 inch width muffler will fit where the stock muffler currently rests. Anyone ever installed a muffler that wide there before, or is it not possible?

that might be around the size of what Hervey sells. I would look through his site as I think he has a few magnaflows on there.

Oh, I'm not going magnaflow, I'm got something completely unique in mind, it's not a part any delorean vendor would sell.

I figured that I just thought he had the dimensions listed somewhere that pushed the limit of what would fit.

Yeah, I'm looking now trying to find it, I figured someone had answered this question long ago on here too, but I searched and searched and found nothing. I know 5.5 in is cutting it REAL close back there, but if it fits, I will be super pumped. If not, I guess I'll have to look into an alternate option with the mufflers on each side like some of the other aftermarket exhaust options.

Why dont you just take a tape measure under your car and measure your clearance? That should give you an idea of whether it would fit pretty much instantly. I wouldn't restrict yourself to just the dimensions of the stock DeLorean muffler. Chances are you can push the measurements out a little bit in every direction. I'd go measure it now for you but I have different space issues.

Yeah, I did that, it's very close, that's why I wanted to see if anyone had tried 5.5 or the max they got out of it.
