View Full Version : Engine How is the throttle return spring supposed to be oriented/installed?

There's a problem with my idle, and I actually think it's because the throttle return spring was oriented wrong at some point. It also seems to block the max throttle from ever being hit.
Can someone either describe what things it should touch, or post some photos of it's proper shape and where the 'pointy' end should rest?
Thanks!

Can you post a photo of your setup? Perhaps then people can tell you where your issue lies.
Here's a couple generic photos I found using google

The part I'm having trouble with is where the 'pointy end' goes.
There's a post with three retaining clips on it. It has a ridge towards the top. Where should it be situated relative to that post and those three clips, and what should it rest on once it's through there?

Hey Buddy,
Give this thread a read, mostly starting on the second page where it begins talking about the throttle spool. Dave posted a picture of that post and clips thing you mentioned in post #23.

Basically, as part of the deice shield recall kit, there were four snap clips that go over that post and settle into that notch. The idea is that it keeps the free end of the spring from getting into the notch and getting caught. The spring end is supposed to be under the clips as it rests against the post.
