DPI Josh mentioned he is working on Stainless Steel Cooling Pipes.

I figured I start a thread and see what the progress is on them!

I've sent several PMs and emails for couple months, but no response about these.

I know he emails people back after awhile or something but he always comments on posts frequently, so I figured I post a thread on it.

The cooling pipes from water pump to radiator. The ones we have are aluminum. Mine are corroded, and have tiny holes in different spots. Josh said he was making them in Stainless Steel, I think they're gonna have a polished finish to them!

Really looking forward to them, really need them!!

Cliff S's stainless frame has polished stainless coolant pipes. I helped him install them about a week before DCS. Not sure where he ended up getting them from. I know he had been trying to get a set for quite a while.

Here's a shot; you can see the ones in the front going to the radiator. Every one is polished stainless:

Stainless may be nice (for looks) but there's a disadvantage.
It doesn't like the coolant's composition.

There has been a thread about this in the old DMCTalk forum.
That's about catalysing between alunimum and stainless due to the coolant.
A small part of the cooling system may contain SS, but if that exceeds a certain percentage it will destroy the aluminum in the cooling system.
If I recall correctly a percentage of over 40 will make that happen.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

We can not build these fast enough. I stopped making these even in house until our bailiegh bead roller arrives shortly. It takes an additional 3 weeks for the tube beading process plus polishing. Hoping to have this product up and going for the public shortly.

By a 25 foot spool. Do the entire pipe including the flared end (connecting hoses go over the heat shrink).

Using the correct alloy of stainless steel is important to prevent corrosion. If you do not test and/or change the coolant, it gets corrosive and even the aluminum pipes corrode and you see the pinholes. Most of us have a S/S header tank and no one has seen any of them corroding. There is something to be said for staying with the aluminum pipes. They are lighter, can be fabricated easier, and are sacrificial, they will melt before you melt the steel parts in the motor! Since the pipes are almost impossible to see, I do not see the need for polished S/S pipes.
