What are the two threaded brass inserts in the fan shroud for? Do I put that side with the inserts on the top or bottom?

Some Other Car.

On the top for no particular reason than "they are all that way".

The brass inserts have to go on top so the cutouts to clear the crumple tube are on the bottom.

Do you by any chance know what that other car is? Is there a cross over for the fan shroud?
