So my speedo stopped working this weekend. I noticed that the dust cover was slipping so I secured it with electrical tape and it does not slip, but after I did that the speedo worked for about 1 mile and then went to zero again.
The square hole in the dust cap looks ok, still square. I turned the speedo cable (the part that fits into dust cap) with my screw gun and the speedo worked fine.
Does this mean that the dust cap is bad? Also, if the angle drive is failing or starting to fail would the screw gun have worked?
I am just concerned that I will put on a new dust cap and if the angle drive is binding it will destroy the new dust cap. Besides using my screw gun on the AD is there another way to test it?
Thanks
