My question is the parking brake light comes on and off normally when it should i.e brake off light off or brake on light on. However with the key out of the igntion the parking brake light comes on when the parking brake is off and actually goes off when the brake is on, with no power applied to the car?

Schematically speaking, the light comes on when either the Parking brake lever switch is closed (on) or the Brake fluid level switch is (on) with Low fluid in Reservoir. Both switches close the circuit too ground. It should not be possible under normal conditions for the light to come ON with the ignition off.

Fixed, it seems by simply taking out the new led bulb and replacing it with the normal 194 bulb fixed the issue, not sure ?
I thought that would only be a problem for the Battery Indiator not the Parking brake light?
Any Thoughts?

Was it on with full intensity? Do you have any alarm installed?

Full intensity and no alarm installed taking out the led seemed to fix the issue

That is VERY odd...it means you had power AND ground to the bulb when it shouldn't have either...

Old thread I know, but...

My brake light stays on now. Visually checked the switch on the lever, and it seems to be okay (doesn't appear to be stuck closed). Checked my fluid, and it was low, so I thought that was it. I added fluid, but the light stays on still. So, I've got a short somewhere?

Next I suppose I will disassemble the entire lever mechanism and again check the switch with a VOM.
