Hey all,

I received a lucrative job offer in the Overland Park area. Just wondering if there is an active club around there, or who's who in the KC metro area? I wouldn't know hardly anyone there except my employer so it would be cool to have some buds around to turn wrenches with. Not sure if I will take it or not, but I'm seriously considering.

There was some interest a few months back about a DeLorean club forming in the Missouri area, which would of course include KC. I know because I was asked to assist with setting up the beginnings of a club web site (www.citizenkidd.com/DMCM/dmc.htm) for them. So I know there are owners in the area.

I haven't heard anything in a while, so I assumed the interest had died down.

Well, it's official. I'm moving to Overland Park sometime in late January/early February. I've been reppin' North Dakota for 12 years and I will be sad to leave my hometown. I have some good stuff lined up with a new job that I think I will really enjoy so I'm looking forward with mixed emotions. Both my D and my DD (2008 Subaru Legacy) require flatbeds so I will have to take the Subie when I move. I will store the D in a storage garage here until spring when I can get a one-way ticket back to Fargo, put the new windshield in, then drive it back to KC.

Aside from my job I will probably be bored off my ass since I won't know anyone. I'm planning to get my frame-off done during 2013 so that will keep me busy and I'd love to have a frame-pulling party with some KC-area owners!!!

Damn, so much for that frame-off.

Congratulations though on your new endeavor. Eh, whatever, this just means I'll have to drive a little farther when your ready to fix up that frame. Alternatively if you just want to have that windshield shipped directly to your place I'll help you install it.

Good luck Andy.

Thanks Jim! I will really miss the MNDMC group. You guys are a ton of fun and really make having a D worthwhile.

The frame-off has been a moving target for me for quite a while, but I think I will have the best opportunity to work on it this spring. I'm getting a significant salary increase which will really help finance the restoration (main reason I keep putting it off). Also I'll have a lot of time on my hands in the evenings and weekends so I will need something to keep me busy. DeLoreans are good at that :-)

I'll be sure to keep you updated and it would be fantastic to have you come down and give me a hand for a couple days!!!

When I get back to Fargo to pick up the D I'll have to install the windshield, trim pieces, T-panel, and center headliners. Of course the console and stuff too. So I will have a nice afternoon project to do at my parent's house.

Andy,
We should be ale to meet up the next time I'm in KC, probably early spring. I won't be far from Overland Park. I know of a D for sale in KC in case you want to sell yours and buy one locally in KC.

Great! My big problem right now is finding a rental property that has a double garage. Fargo is full of them but apparently KC is not!

Well I just signed a lease in Overland Park. Really nice community. Www.villageatlionsgate.com. I have a double garage so my DeLorean will have a nice home. Getting real now! My condo here in Fargo just went on the market.

Hi Guys,

Made the drive yesterday in a 20 foot U-Haul with auto transport towing behind... 625 miles, no cruise control, felt like I was piloting something that could jackknife at any moment even though I'm sure that would be pretty unlikely unless I had to slam on the brakes on a curve. Hopefully it will be a long time before I have to move that far again! At least the truck was pretty new, I didn't check but it had to be a 2012 Ford or so since it only had 11K on it. So it was definitely solid and in good shape.

My D is still in Fargo and I'm already scheming ways I can go back and get it. I might try to convince my dad to haul it down here ASAP on a flatbed so I can work on the windshield in KC. We will see about that but either way hopefully get it down here by April.

Oh yes, I'm in Overland Park near Metcalf and West 145th. Looking forward to driving around today and trying to get my bearings.

I look forward to meeting you in KC. Be sure to contact the other D owners there and start stirring up activity.

I had a great time meeting PainterDave and Jeff downtown in the Plaza of Kansas City! They had plenty of onlookers while we sipped our coffee and shared some war stories. Now I really can't wait to get my D to my new home. Hopefully in about 6 weeks I can make it happen!!

Any other KC owners willing to come out of the woodwork???

Andy
